Living in an apartment below a dog owner presents unique challenges. Nothing could have prepared me for the unexpected "showers" my patio regularly endures from the pet upstairs. The mess inevitably drips down whenever the dog relieves itself on the balcony above, tarnishing my outdoor space. On several occasions, it's even caught me and my guests off guard.
It's not just the sudden downpours; the stench is overwhelming. A strong odor of dog waste frequently drifts into my home, suggesting that the dog is only sometimes taken out for its needs.
Seeking a peaceful resolution, I approached the apartment management. Their tepid response was disheartening. They insisted on video proof of the ongoing issue, ignoring the health and hygiene concerns. Local authorities, such as the police and health department, seemed more receptive than the apartment management. Yet they still did nothing.
It's crucial to note that this isn't a baseless claim. Numerous witnesses have corroborated my story, yet the management remains resolute in demanding video evidence. Their intransigence is both perplexing and frustrating.
In my quest for a solution, Jack from AMC Rental Properties promised action, but the issue lingers. I've escalated the matter to her supervisor, Robin, and Robin stated the same: nothing will be done until there is video evidence.
Adding to my apprehension is the high traffic to the apartment above. Given the unresolved primary concern, I've observed 5-10 visitors daily, amplifying my discomfort.
The leasing agent's nonchalant directive to "Call back on Monday" was incredibly disheartening. Such blatant health issues should never be brushed aside, leaving residents like me to cope with the fallout.
This goes beyond mere inconvenience. It's about tenant rights and expecting a decent living environment. I share my story to highlight the need for change and advocate for the inherent rights of every tenant.
In an ironic twist, a friend in the same complex reported her upstairs neighbors for smoking marijuana. The management's swift response contrasts starkly with their lackluster handling of my predicament, raising concerns of inconsistency and favoritism.
Another point of negligence: they recently discarded urine-soaked carpets from their unit right outside my door. These carpets, obstructing my entrance, weren't just a nuisance but posed a health risk. This glaring oversight underscores the extent of their carelessness and serves as a testament to the gravity of our concerns. If only the management would acknowledge such evident signs of neglect.
Interestingly, the top review for this complex, written in 2020 states: "Dog friendly with no problem dogs or dog owners to date." My experience, as detailed above, paints a starkly different picture. Potential renters need to know that while the complex might be dog-friendly, they may need to be equipped to handle all pet-related concerns adequately.
To: Owner, management
Thank you for your response. However, I have already taken the initiative to reach out multiple times. I've communicated with both local management and representatives from your corporate office. Despite my proactive efforts, there has yet to be a resolution offered.
It's important to note that, as a customer, I expect issues to be addressed without repeated follow-ups. The suggestion that I should reach out again places an undue burden on me when, in fact, the responsibility lies with your team to ensure concerns are addressed promptly.
